Topless Day Event!

by cr1ck3e

Before discussing Topless Day, we have a small announcement. Tog passed her vin inspection, and now we just wait for the state to do their thing and she will be legal for the streets. In preparation for this glorious occasion, Pappy bought her new shoes!

Ain’t she purdy? A far cry from her trip to the toj experience headquarters for her rebuild process which was just a short 6 months ago. Congrats Pappy!

toplessmcp1Topless day was rescheduled for April 29th, due to a poor weather prediction for May 1st. Many would ask why not postpone such an event, but here at the toj experience we’ve found we’ve grown quite tired of old man winter, and decided to force our will upon the weather. Its snowed twice since Topless Day. Do we care? Nope!

toplesstoj2So off the tops went, as we enjoyed a day of semi warm sunshine and a nice cruise.  The sad news of the day was that rai, because of a daughter and a car seat in the back of toyj, decided to opt out of Topless Day. His own personal Topless Day will happen soon enough, and the summer gear will go on in a flash, but for now, he chose to keep his full soft on.

toplesstogThis left MCP, Pappy, and cr1ck3e alone to remove some skin, and mounting hardware, which they did with pleasure AND pride.

Did your Topless Day go as well? Did you participate in the toj experience’s annual topless celebration? Send us your photos and show off your toplessness to the whole world here at the toj experience!

Going Topless!

by cr1ck3e

 UPDATE

So here we are, ready for another pre-summer update. When we last reported to you, mcp’s jeep was out of commission, and Pappy’s jeep had a clutch going wrong. We here at the toj experience are happy to announce that after a day of work on each project, each jeeps are fully operational. For anyone who has reworked a differential, you know how bad this sucks. And for everyone in the shop other than Pappy.. we learned too, just how bad it sucks.  For everyone who has done a clutch, you know how bad it sucks… and for everyone in the shop other than cr1ck3e, we all know now too.

Needless to say, many sore muscles, and headaches later, we are pleased to announce each jeep in the toj experience is now ready for departure on the trails.

The good news is here in Jeep country, we’re having an early spring, and an early spring means that we get to go3a Blank Planner May 2011 Calendar topless sooner than later, and we are now on a countdown to the official day where the tops are going to come off.

So the day is coming, and its coming fast, are you ready to go topless?

da sunHow do you know if its time to go topless though? Well, for one, there’s no more snow on the ground, and there’s dark clouds looming in the sky. The air is warmer, the grass is greener. It is time.

Spring Training

by Rai

thefourleftThe Spring Jeep training has begun for the group members of the Toj Experience. At Clan thefourrightMcMenzies Jeep Specialties, the work has been tireless all winter, and we’re almost there, now, just in time for Spring. So here’s where we stand:

Pappy- (ALMOST TRAIL READY)

His ‘74 CJ5 appropriately named TOG  (The Ol’ Gal)  has come to fruition and is almost jeep ready. When Pappy acquired this rig back in December, it was in dire need of TLC. The last 3 months, togwithtopinyeller Pappy has taken this ol’ rig and really spruced her up. There’s a couple of things left for trail preparedness and we’re running out of “winter” to get the Clutch and registration done. However, Pappy will come in on time and will be trail ready in a few weeks.

cr1ck3e- (TRAIL READY)

What an annoying winter for TOJ. cr1ck3e has been befuddled along with the rest of us trying to fix a sputtering problem tojnsnowunder load on his Jeep for the entire winter season. Finally, after multiple sensor replacements, sparkplugs, wires, gas caps and treatments, the problem has ended. (hopefully) TOJ and cr1ck3e are ready for the trails.

MCP- (NOT TRAIL READY)

diffinsideMCP’S TOJS has some serious problems. With a differential bearing exploderating this week, she now is in need of a differential rebuild on the rear. Ring and Pinion Gear are functional and MCP is making the tough call about mcpontrucknow perhaps being the time to replace or upgrade. Decision currently not made, but this weekend the bearing kit will be installed and the diff rebuild to stock up upgraded. After this repair, MCP is trail ready.

RAI- (TRAIL READY WITH RISK)

RAI and TOYJ had a mild winter, an oil change, the instillation of a fire extinguisher and a master clutch cylinder replacement. Also, TOYJ got herself a pretty new set of TJ Fender Flares fit on to her YJ body. This is not only an upgrade for looks, but also clearance toyjnewflaresfor the rear tires. TOYJ is in dire need of a tire carrier to avoid further damage to the tailgate from bearing to much weight from the over sized 32” tire. That is on the short list of items to procure soon in the season but other than that RAI is trail ready.

First trails on the List-
Balanced Rock Road and China Wall
