Here we welcome the newest member of our family, mcp. Given the opportunity to write this himself, he opted to have someone else write this for him, because he’s a man of few words, and I, cr1ck3e, am a man of many! And so we begin.

It started with a conversation where mcp told me that ever since he was a young boy, he wanted a jeep. Yet still he did not own one. Of course, being the peer pressuring bastard that I am, convinced him to take one for a spin. I explained to him that, though he may think he wants one; until he drives one he’ll never truly know. For as all jeep owners know, theres only one thing that drives like a jeep.. and that’s a jeep. It doesn’t drive like a car, or SUV, or truck. It is tall, light, top heavy, not particularly fast, and has a wicked crazy turning radius. That being said, we started out looking online.

We found a Jeep. It was beautiful, red, lifted, and just agonizingly perfect. MCP went to the dealership to see it. They sold it not 4 days prior. So he went on a hunt. He found little. So after speaking to him on the mobile telephone, I suggested another which I found online, and had him swing by and pick me up, and we went to look. They said they thought they might have it sold, but wanted us to take it for a spin anyways. And so we did, and the MCP had his first experience driving a Jeep. He loved it, he knew it. Though he went OooOoo on that first left turn.. and thought we were on ice even though it was 80 degrees.. he knew, I think, that he was in trouble. But they thought they had it sold, so there was uncertainty.. so we walked across the street and found her.  She’s a 1999 TJ, Sahara Edition. Green (MCP’s color) with a tan top. She already has aftermarket wheels and 32’s. She’s a standard, and so this gives us a significant advantage than to her toj comrades. She won’t spend time jacked into the sky to be modified by us. Not much, at least.

There was a problem though, she’s a stick and MCP has not driven a stick in years. So we took her to a parkinglot so his bearings could come back, and then we rolled her down the street. After the test drive ended, the raving began. He loved it. The color, the styling, the stereo, the interior. It was a done deal, he WANTED this Jeep. And he would have her!   

Now the gory details of purchasing are not only dull, but none of anyone’s damn business, Besides, I had him take me home on that. Suffice to say, he got a deal he liked, and traded in his gas guzzeling whore of a durango, and had himself a wonderful new jeep.

Shes got by my wager, at least 3, possibly 4 inches of suspension lift. She has the fog lights MCP loves. (big n round!!) She has no carpet, but spray in bedliner. She has a Kenwood CD player. She has a 4.0! So, once again, MCP finds himself driving the make of a vehicle with the biggest engine they’ve ever put in it, much like his 5.9 litre V8 Dodge Durango. But a 4.0 inline 6 is a far cry from that.

And so he had it. The next day we ripped those windows off and popped MCP’s trail cherry just right, see the post. It was a wonderful ride, and he and his brand new baby did wonderfully.

The sad thing is, there are few opportunities for massive customizing. But he’s only had this Jeep for 2 days. What will he do? Deck Cover? Bikini Top? Safari Top? NOTHING AT ALL?! We all must wait with baited breath to see what the f uture will hold. One thing has happened already though, and that is the edition to a new shifter knob, continuing in the tradition of the tOj Experience.. and thats with the edition of a skull. Kudos to MCP on a beautiful new ride, and welcome to the brotherhood!

…..cr1ck3e, I’m buying a Jeep in November of this year and I see you have two options. 1) Wait for me to buy a jeep, then fold by Christmas out of envy and jealousy and buy one. 2) buy one now and then we can both enjoy the mystical, magical and EPIC experiences of a jeep all summer and also when I get mine……

Hi. I’m rai. The above was a conversation I had with cr1ck3e in the summer of 2009….and so it began. Not then though, Cr1k3e and I are no strangers to jeeps. Cr1ck3e was into them long before the rest of the toj members. He sported 2 CJ’s in highschool. Beautiful, elegant and classic. His CJ’s were the staple of youth American culture, and I ensued. Back in the day, my jeep was a J10 pickup and we had a lot of fun tooling around in the dirt, on the streets and in the MUD!!! A memory not to fade is a little game of “push the CJ into the intersection” we used to play back in our days of less wisdom. It’s a pretty self-explanatory game, and it came down to his CJ had a bigger engine than my J10. Since those days in the previous century, cr1ck3e and I have not revisited the jeep experience.

Ahh yes, the strong memory recall of the exciting days as an adolescence. I wish I could get them back. Wait!! I did!
2009 was a rough year for many and I was no stranger to the downward heel kicks life throws as you’re looking up from the flat of your back. I made the decision in June to buy a Jeep by November 1. I had my powwow with cr1ck3e and SHIZAM!! We both are jeepers again. Cr1ck3e got approval from the “ball and chain” which held a whopping 93.786% decision resolution power. I like to think my positive reinforcement and undying support to buy a jeep as quickly as possible played a role in the process, even though my intentions we’re completely selfish, that being said, cr1ck3e has a good time and is happy with his purchase, therefore I feel no guilt for my reasons encouraging him to buy a jeep. WIN!!!
 

Mid-October rolled around and I was a little cash-shy of goal to buy a jeep of the certain trail-worthiness I was hoping for. Regardless, I moved forward and found online, what would become my ToYJ. (The One YJ) My Yj. There’s not another one like it in the world. And because it’s mine, I think it’s the coolest jeep in the world.  However I am founded in Jeep ethics and recognize and respect beauty, precision, art, personality and all the qualities that come along with owning a jeep. Some would disagree, but I would apply “perfection” to this modern day machine.  Fellow Jeep owners, I salute you!

Also, please welcome MCP to the TOJ group. He’s the late bloomer in the group but has satisfied a life long dream and has quite a story to share with you.
Now that you know a little about me, please let me introduce to you ToYJ, and give you a brief history of her life.

It’s a pleasure to meet you is the normal response from ToyJ, but she’s a bit shy all of a sudden being online and not in the dirt, but don’t worry, she likes you.

On this trip we popped MCP’s trail cherry. We started off in Monument, and went up Mt. Herman Rd. A nice easy way to start off, and get his feet wet. so to speak.

The obligatory tit shot. When you look at a jeep, one has to wonder, can you top that? Well, we’re certainly going to try. With of course…

 

Thats right. The ass shot. So pretty. Look at that full sized rear tire on MCP’s new Sahara. Always beautiful. We followed up Mt. Herman with offshoots on 318 and 319.

This brought a wee tiny bit of mud, and some really great climbs and decents. Kudos to MCP for not only going his first trail, but using 4WDL for the first time in his life. The views as you treverse through the hills from Monument to Woodland Park are quite pretty.

MCP figured out quickly, that every picture taken from a Jeep must also have a mirror, or hood in the picture. Nice job!

 

 

 

The boy is a natural, I tell ya! These two are off of Mt Herman. Lots of greenery out there.

And the Obama Rock. Everytime I see it.. I laugh uncontrollably. Its wonderful. Our final pictures come from both myself and MCP as we inched our way to the top of a very steep incline. Like being on a roller coaster, once you reach the top of that climb you look out and get a view like this and all you can do.. is reach for your camera. Unless you’re the driver, and then you pat your steeringwheel and say “Good girl..” and you think, “YES WE MADE IT!” but you dont want to say that aloud, because someone is riding with you and has full trust in you.

 

This one is from cr1ck3e’s vantage point. MCP’s vantage point had a pretty jeep ass in it!

 

 

As you can tell, almost identical with exception of a tail light.

All in all, a highly successful day despite there being very little to no mud. We missed rai on this trail, as he is still in Washington. Once back, there will be a 3rd beauty to add to the pictures, and to the trails that we rock.
